Only the features you need
simplyScrum is meant to be simple. We do not want the application to get in the way of how your team works with Scrum, but instead to be used as a tool that conforms to your Scrum practice. Here is a run down of the current feature base implemented in SimplyScrum.
Organization is key
A backlog can become hairy very quickly. We can take the pain points out of managing a massive backlog by providing:
- Ability to quickly edit important items of a given story or task
- Quickly add tasks to stories in your backlog
- Drag and drop your stories and tasks to order them according to business value
- Delete and restore stories or tasks from your trash bin
- Each story has more options and fields that can be added to outside of the traditional backlog view. Just click through into “edit with more details”
Remember, a trim, well thought out backlog is a happy backlog!
Team communication
Blocked on a story or task? We all have been there before, but now you can let your team members know that you are blocked before the next daily standup. Other items you can use to communicate with include:
- Start a discussion about a story with your team members
- Follow a story that you are not even associated with, but want to know about
- Leave notes on a story to let your team members know where you are currently with the story
- Everyone has his or her own sticky color so it’s easy to see who owns what
- Get a verbose team activity feed to see what has been going on for your sprint
Planning made simple
Starting a sprint is simple, but planning can be a pain to get to that point. With simplyScrum, we take the pain out of planning by:
- Easily collaborate on the next sprints stories by creating quick tasks
- Quickly add those stories to the next sprint
- Organize your backlog to what is important business value
- Visualize who owns what stories and tasks according to their sticky colors
Everything in its place
Write up your stories in traditional story lingo or just use the fields as open ended storage devices. You can also:
- Add traditional acceptance tests to a story so that you know what you have to do to mark it “done done”
- Upload important files associated with the story for completing it or come demo day
- Organize your stories into categories for quick reference on why it’s important to your team
Virtual stand ups
When it comes to visualizing your current sprint, there is nothing better than having a Scrum board at your whim. We have provided a Scrum board that we think you will fall in love with because:
- Conforms to your screen size. Go ahead, throw it up on a massive TV monitor.
- Visualize whose stickies are whose based on their color
- Easily drag and drop the stickies into their appropriate swim lanes
- Minimalistic in that we show you the important parts of a story
More to come!
Of course, like all great software, we are continuing to develop new and exciting features.
